Anonymous asked: have you already messaged the people who won your hogwartsr id giveaway?

hi anon! no, i haven’t. i’ve been a bit busy with finals, i’ll announce/message winners on tuesday :)

thechromaticscale asked: I love the way you draw the most elegant-looking people! Your loose but straight lines help a lot with the look. A lot of what I see from you are doodles, but I really like the design sense (fashion and graphic wise). * 3* I wish you drew more!

woah thank you jubz, i appreciate it! design sense is also another descriptor i was not expecting (i think my constant surprise by these comments is telling me i should work on being more aware of what i’m doing/trying to do lol).

i’m gonna try and change my drawing output come may! grad school has kinda sucked away all of my free time, but that should change soon. thank you, i feel encouraged!!! <3

tunnelvision asked: We don't really know each other that well but I've been following your art since Ochiba and I have to say that the thing about your art that I love the most is the fact that it has so much character even when it's simple.. And very distinct too! And a good sense of color.. :)

o-oh wow, thank you so much, that’s so kind. i am surprised and warmed that you think my drawings are distinct! pretty shocked actually. thank you!!!

Anonymous asked: what do you do, if you don't mind me asking?

i don’t mind at all! and i assume by “do” you mean “what is my job.”  i’m a grad student getting my masters of science in biomedical sciences. i also work as a neuroanatomy tutor :)

bluebed asked: What, you're all in SF too?!..

Ohh, close! I’m in San Jose and Maré’s originally from there too; he was in town because of a family thingy. I hang with Jesse in SF sometimes! And then I creepily talk to him about you and how I want to meet you, haha :)

googofart asked: hey! I was the girl who gave you the second opinion on booth placement on the first day towards the end. I was surprised to find your art on my dash, and I regret not buying more of your prints oh my GOSH. I am very impressed by your loose style and how it translates so well to poster size.

they were so cheap and classy ugh ugh do you sell them on DA, or?

Hello! Thanks so much for stopping by my table! And gah, thanks also for all the kind words! <3333

I’m currently trying to figuring out a formal online shop (see previous tumblr post), but in the meantime, if there was a print that you remember struck your fancy, you can always send me a PM via tumblr/dA/email and put in an order that way. I take paypal!

thechromaticscale asked: hey chica lovely boo
What does your screen name mean, if anything? also ARE YOU GOING TO AX PLEASE please say yes :(

oh hey cutie baby!

Well, ARE YOU IN FOR A LONG BORING STORY! My long-time original internet handle was chupachup, which I guess no one would be familiar with anymore unless you oekaki-ed (ie. you!) or were in Harry Potter fandom with me back in the day, and that was taken from the homonymous lollipop brand… for pretty much no reason I guess? Haha. Random factoids: 1) for a long time, my deviantart account appeared before the chupa chups lollipop website when you googled “chupachup”! and 2) apparently Salvador Dali created the chupa chup logo design. WHICH IS SO TIGHT.

Anypoops, sometime in the last few years for a variety of reasons, I decided I wanted to take a username that was closer to my actual name, Christine. I picked up the nickname “Xine” (pronounced “Zeen”) in high school because in my direct group of friends, there was another girl named Christine. The X-ine is supposed to be like X-mas, where X=Christ; on a tangent, I don’t really know why Christina Aguilera went by X-tina for a while since Christ-Tina is slightly repetitive. Actually, it’s probably because Xina sounds goofy.

Almost there! So, “xinester”! It’s supposed to be an only somewhat accurate triple entendre with the word “zinester”, one who makes zines, and “scenester”, a slightly outdated word for hipster, or according to urban dictionary, “a person who tries very hard to fit the stereotype of a certain scene.” Those words are only slightly accurate to describe me because 1) I’ve only ever self-published one book and 2) mm this girl is 100% authentic nerd, all natural fujoshi!!

Haha, so that is what it means. Oh man that was SO LONG, I am so sorry!!! I hope that wasn’t boring. (It was.) And yes, I am going to AX!! Are you????

tokyoconception asked: Xine! It's lawn, I heard you will be at TCAF and I will be creeping on you from the corner...!

hi bumblebee! let’s creep on each other in mutual creepiness !!

Anonymous asked: yeah the Aggie newspaper articles/comics really suck. Yours would be so much better!! But they only want certain kinds of people in there :CCC

what are you majoring in? :)

Hello, hello! Actually, I used to work for the Aggie back when I was a sophomore. Not as a cartoonist though, I wrote articles for the Arts section… we ROCKED btw. I wrote with lurve. Anyways, I feel like part of the reason why the Aggie sucks so hard now is because no one gets paid anymore, so no one cares. It could also just be that their writers are worse, but I’m more certain it’s because they’re understaffed.

I’m graduating this quarter (2 more months!!!!!!!) with a B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, & Behavior :DDD

misterunagi asked: hi chupachup! long time no talk!! XD

hey you!! <3 <3 i found you because of that question you posted on nemurism’s tumblr, haha! :D YOUR ART HAS INFINITELY GROWN SINCE WE LAST SPOKE, sigh, give me all of your talent :( anyways, i’m happy i get to stalk you even MORE now! :D

gartastic asked: lol i know that vu is a really common vietnamese last name. i guess my excitement/ sarcasm didnt really come through

I am sensing that my own excitement over our shared last names was not conveyed well enough. I wasn’t being facetious! And I was trying to emphasize that Vu is not an overwhelmingly common Vietnamese last name with that wiki statistic, not the opposite.

For example, I am in a Vietnamese community service club with over 60 members, but other than me, there is only one other person with Vu for a last name. Or or or! Nine out of four-hundred fifty-five of my facebook friends’ surnames are Vu—only one of them is unrelated to me. That’s really cool! So, in short, I too am excited to be a Vu as one of the few and proud, and I am happy we get to be Vu’s together.

Tell me more things/ask me more questions please, e’ryone! I like to talk.

gartastic asked: holy shit, my last name is Vu too.

Oh snap, MAYBE WE ARE RELATED?

But seriously, that is cool. I don’t know many Vu’s other than those within la famille. According to wikipedia, we have the 7th most popular Vietnamese last name!
