Hey all!! Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I’ve been super busy juggling a gajillion other exciting projects and events alongside school. Where to begin???

I guess first of all, I should share that I am officially one of the winners for the Modcloth design contest!!!! Thank you for sticking around and putting up with my annoyingness throughout the voting week, haha! And of course, thank you SO much for voting, reblogging, facebook sharing, retweeting, and just generally being so kind and supportive. I was truly moved by all the friends and family who came out of the woodwork to encourage and support me. Thank you so, so much! You are all the best, and if not for your help, I wouldn’t have this awesome announcement to share with you.

Modcloth actually made its official winners announcement on their blog last month, and they’ll be starting the production of my dress soon! It will be released on their website this fall for purchase :D So exciting! They let me know that they are currently picking the fabric :)

For those who are curious, this is actually the 2nd time Modcloth has held this contest. The 1st time was last fall, and those winners’ garments were just released for purchase on the website today! It’s so, so exciting to see how the winners’ drawings were brought to life. You can also view the production process for the fall winners on the Modcloth blog.

Again, thank you all so much! Now, if only THIS fall could come faster… :)

DAiCon: UCD anime con

Aw, that’s so sweet, thank you for the invite! I graduated from UCD last spring, so I don’t live in the area anymore :) But thank you for thinking of me! My heart is so warmed thinking about my alma mater and knowing someone is organizing a local anime convention. You are so sweet! I wish you good luck, my dear :) And I shall leave this post up here so that other UCD/local anime artists may find you. Some of my best friends I only know because of anime/anime cons, so with this in mind, I hope you too will find your friend-soulmates!!!

long, self-indulgent story: the only reason why I know Morgan Luthi is/was from Davis was because one day I randomly clicked the facebook interest “batman the animated adventures” (hey, i like to know who’s into what i’m into) and he was the top hit; his at-the-time profile picture was an image I only recognized as a cover of Mechademia, and i clicked out of curiosity. there i found his profile pic was actually his work and the cover of his now defunct Tokyopop OEL manga “Snow”; but also—WORKING at UCD?! this still intrigues me to no end. was he a teacher?? a receptionist?? had i spoken to him once before and never known it??? this is probably a fairly common fantasy, but i regularly daydream about my bio/math/non-art teachers secretly being into my fandoms and drawing comics.

moral of that story: i facebook stalk strangers NO ONE IS SAFE

i just started using sai and doing lines on it is AWESOME. coloring, not so much. does anyone know of any free programs that are good for digital painting?
